Critical Infrastructure is the backbone of how today’s societies are organised to function to maintain normancy. It includes the transportation networks and utility assets and systems. Their maleficent damage or distruction, resulting in operational failure has a direct and immediate impact on our way of life. The disruption through natural disasters, terrorism, criminal activity behaviours need to be secured and avoided. A CIP Operator role is to assist in reducing the vulnerabilities and increasing the resilience of these Critical Infrastructures. This can be achieved through the implementation of a framework of activities designed and aimed to act as a deterrent. A candidate develops skills such as awareness of the industry standards and regulations, the development and deployed methods of security, resilience and continuity of the security systems and plans, assisting in monitoring, assessing and reporting of the security systems and plans, in performing periodic risk analysis and its impact in the security planning, in identifying emerging threats and vulnerabilities with on site inspections
